1. Background
A saturated monool containing more than twelve carbon atoms is called a higher alcohol. It is stable in nature, not easy to oxidize, stable under light, resistant to acid and alkali, not moisture absorption, and has good biodegradability and bioactivity. It usually exists in the form of white waxy solid, powder or flake crystal at room temperature. It's odorless, tasteless, non-toxic, insoluble in water, and mainly used as plasticizer, defoamer and detergent.

2.Process
The process is divided into two steps:
Borate was synthesized from wax by boric acid oxidation;
High alcohols were prepared by hydrolysis of borate.
